The annual Career Planning Fair offers high school sophomores and juniors - as well as their parents - the opportunity to learn about career planning and careers available right here in Denton. The program features local businesses and regional institutions of higher education that are key to developing strong human capital and retaining talent for Denton's growing community.
Industry topics include the following:
- Health & Medicine
- Information Technology
- Mathematics & Sciences
- Manufacturing & Construction
- Arts & Humanities
- Hospitality & Tourism
- College planning / College readiness
The Career Planning Fair offers a series of briefings with panel discussions on select industries to help students make informed decisions about their career path. Business and higher education representatives will be invited to join as panelists. The event also features a Career Expo, during which students may speak to professionals about their experience.
The program is designed to:
Encourage students and parents to think further ahead in planning their future after high school
Provide an opportunity for businesses and college career counselors to share their expertise about today’s work environment and education and skills needed for a variety of careers
Provide ad hoc mentors/advisors to students for planning future education needs to be competitive in tomorrow’s work environment
